Hitting the books may not be the only way your child can boost his or her grades!A new study shows exercise may help improve academic performance, as well. Researchers tracked nearly 4,800 children, measuring their physical activity levels at the age of 11. Their academic performance was assessed through national testing in English, math and science at the ages of 11, 13 and 15 or 16. The results? Moderate to vigorous physical activity was linked to better academic performance across all three subjects. At age 15 or 16, exam scores increased with every additional 17 minutes a day of exercise boys performed and every 12 minutes a day of exercise for girls. And active girls benefited most in science.The take home? Make sure your kids are moving…at home and at school.
