Tears, degeneration and inflammation may all contribute to Achilles tendinitis, leading to heel and ankle pain.
Here are common symptoms of the condition, courtesy of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society:
- A painful, burning sensation in the tendon at the back of the ankle and top of the heel.
- Pain that is worse first thing in the morning, and often improves when you’re moving.
- Warmth, swelling, tenderness and soreness in and around the Achilles tendon.
