If you’re a woman with asthma…here’s some news that may affect your family planning.
A large, new study concludes that asthma has a negative effect on fertility.
More than 15,000 twins filled out surveys that included questions about the presence of asthma and conception specifically whether they had been trying to get pregnant for longer than a year without success and how many children they had given birth to.
9-hundred-55 of the women had a history of asthma. Of those, 27-percent reported a prolonged time to getting pregnant…versus 21-point-6 percent of would-be Mom’s without asthma. Asthmatic women over 30 had even more trouble. And the numbers were also worse for women who weren’t actively treating their asthma.
A ray of hope… women with asthma ultimately gave birth to the same average number of children as women without asthma.
I’m Dr. Cindy Haines of HealthDay TV with the health news for you and your family.
