Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can be a nuisance at night while you’re trying to sleep.
The National Sleep Foundation recommends:
- Staying upright after eating a large meal.
- Opting for smaller meals.
- Restricting GERD-triggering foods, such as onions, chocolate, alcohol and high-fat fare.
- Avoiding potassium supplements.
- Swallowing medications with plenty of water, and taking them while in an upright position.
