You’ve likely heard the phrase sexting. It’s often teenagers…electronically sending sexually explicit text messages or photos to each other.

Now, a new survey reveals one main reason kids are so apt to sext and think nothing of it. It’s good old-fashioned peer pressure that pushes this very modern problem.

In this new study… researchers surveyed 4-hundred-98 teens between the ages of 15 and 18. 26-percent admitted to sexting in the two months preceding the survey.

Some said they did it for attention, others to lower the chances of catching an STD, still others to find a romantic partner.

Interestingly, it was social pressure from boyfriends and girlfriends that motivated teens to sext the most.

Reputation…or being blackmailed didn’t appear to be big factors on their minds. meaning parents and educators have their work cut out for them to convince kids that these images are not only dangerous, but can haunt them forever.
